проблема с Gnome Settings Daemon

У меня Linux Mint 5 (hardy 8.04) - при включении - черный экран с белым прямоугольником в левом верхнем углу, через 3 минуты появляется обычная тема gnome а в этом прямоугльнике надпись:There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.The last error message wasid not receive a reply.
